Efforts to Develop Miqyas Al Dhad
We are pleased to announce our major efforts in developing Miqyas Al Dhad, a unique instrument for precisely rating the difficulty level of Arabic texts. Our diversified and professional team, as well as volunteers who gave their time and efforts continuously to support this initiative, worked hard to assure the delivery of a high-quality tool that meets the educational demands of the Arab the world.
Our efforts have focused on three main development areas:
- Compilation of a 50 million Word Corpus
- Paired study with 1000 Arab teachers
- Field Testing in 8 Countries with 120,000 Students
We compiled a massive corpus containing 50 million words, carefully classified into four categories of complexity. Advanced algorithms were used to determine the difficulty level of texts. This work involved a team of experts in language and technology:
- Dr. Ahmed Al-Zahrani
- Eng. Laila Al-Husseini
- Dr. Khalid Al Ameri
We conducted a paired study involving 1000 Arab teachers from various regions, where they compared and evaluated texts to determine difficulty levels. This work significantly contributed to improving the accuracy of the scale and its alignment with the needs of teachers. Participants in this work included:
- Ms. Noura Al Qahtani
- Mr. Abdul Allah Al Shammari
- Ms. Fatima Al Nuaimi
We conducted comprehensive field testing in 8 countries, involving 120,000 students to evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of Miqyas Al Dhad in diverse educational environments. This field testing helped us collect valuable data to enhance the reliability of the tool. Participants in this work included:
- Dr. Yusuf Al-Ali
- Ms. Maha Al Balushi
- Eng. Raed Al Kaabi
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to these significant efforts, and we look forward to Miqyas Al Dhad being a useful tool that helps improve the quality of education in the Arabic language.
